Legacy, independence and culture: The story of the Irish-Indian relationship
The relationship between India and Ireland is centuries old, with 2025 marking 76 years of official diplomatic connections between our two countries. A relationship that was established in a joint declaration on 10 January 1949, has evolved into an enduring connection through generations of lived experiences.
The shared struggle for independence, a joint admiration of literature and culture, and an acceptance and tolerance for others has created a strong bond between our two nations. Since then, ties have only gone from strength to strength, thanks to increased partnerships across the business, education, and tourism sectors.
Exploring these collaborations, the Embassy of Ireland in New Delhi has produced a four-part mini-docuseries featuring historians, academics, writers, sports stars, and members of the Indian-Irish diaspora.
