This year’s Africa Day programme of events was our largest ever
Africa Day 2023
Across Ireland over 50 Africa Day events took place from 20th May to 3rd June to celebrate Africa Day 2023. Tens of thousands of people enjoyed African music, dance, food and culture at events run by local authorities.
As part of the celebrations, the Department of Foreign Affairs hosted a free, family event at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham in partnership with Dublin City Council. Over 40 performers and community groups took part in an entertaining and memorable day.

50 years of Ireland in the EU

To mark Europe Day 2023 Ministers and Ambassadors met with young people around Ireland and heard what Europe means to them.
The Department of Foreign Affairs together with the National Concert Hall, European Parliament in Ireland and EU Commission in Ireland hosted a performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 featuring the European anthem ‘Ode to Joy’,
