In 2021 and 2022, Ireland and Norway successfully led negotiations on the renewal of the vital Syria Humanitarian cross-border resolution.

Navigating challenging political dynamics, including around the war in Ukraine, finding agreement on this file at the Council was a considerable diplomatic achievement.

Renewal allowed for life-saving humanitarian aid to continue to reach over four million Syrians in need and provided much-needed certainty to humanitarian actors.
