Global Ireland Schools

Get Involved

As part of the Government’s Global Ireland programme, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is leading an initiative to bring Irish diplomats and peacekeepers to secondary schools all over the country to talk about the work they do overseas.

In January 2019 and January 2020 our Ambassadors visited secondary schools around the country - with many returning to their old schools - to talk to students about their work; about Ireland’s place in the world, about our role in the European Union, our membership of the United Nations and the global challenges we face.

We are expanding this programme of school visits in 2020 in collaboration with the Department of Education and Skills and the Department of Defence. If you would like to arrange a visit to your school please contact us.
