Revitalization community project

Byram created this twined patch for a Choctaw textile revitalization community project using hand gathered, processed, and spun plant fibers and decorated it with pigments, plant dyes, and bone beads in a diamond design motif common in Choctaw clothing.

Gift to support

The donated patch recalls the 1847 gift of $170 from the Choctaw people to aid the Irish people during the Potato Famine – a nation-to-nation relationship of generosity that continues today.
