Ireland-Chile Trade and Investment Dialogue

The Department of Foreign Affairs hosted an Ireland-Chile Trade and Investment Dialogue with the Ireland-Chile Chamber of Commerce.

A delegation from the Chilean-Irish Chamber of Commerce, which was launched in Chile by the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Leo Varadkar T.D., in March 2022, visited Ireland from 7-9 November 2022. As part of the visit, the Department of Foreign Affairs was pleased to host an Ireland-Chile Trade and Investment Dialogue in Iveagh House on 7th November.

Opening remarks at the event were provided by Latin America Caribbean Unit Director, Ciara O’Floinn, Ambassador of Chile to Ireland, Carla Serazzi, and President of the Chamber of Commerce, Rodrigo Perez.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for lesson-sharing and exchange on the bilateral trade and economic relationship between Ireland and Chile. It allowed for an exploration of investment opportunities in both markets through lively dialogue amongst members of the Chamber and representatives from key Irish businesses and state agencies.

Aisling Mc Niffe, Senior Executive at Financial Services Ireland, also shared a presentation on sustainable finance and Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG).

The event, in the framework of Ireland’s Strategy for Latin America and the Caribbean, highlighted the great scope of trade and investment potential that exists between Ireland and Chile. Key topics discussed included the green energy, food and drink, and aircraft leasing sectors, as well as Ireland and Chile’s historical connections.

The Chamber’s Board of Directors consists of major Irish investors and business-people born in Ireland and of Irish heritage. The Chamber seeks to advance Irish-Chilean economic interests and the bilateral trade relationship, in conjunction with the relevant Embassies.
