Embassy of Ireland and Bucharest University host Prof. O’Brennan

On Wednesday, 9 November, as part of the EU50 programme, Embassy Bucharest held an event in partnership with the Faculty of Letters, Bucharest University where John O’Brennan, Professor of Political Science in the Department of Sociology at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth spoke about Ireland’s relationship with the European Union and the impact Ireland’s membership of the Union has had on its social and economic development.

In the afternoon, also as part of the EU50 programme, the Embassy partnered with the Euro Atlantic Resilience Centre to organise a panel discussion between Professor O’Brennan Miruna Butnaru Troncotă, Director of the Department of International Relations and European Studies at the National University of Political Science and Public Administration (SNSPA) on “the European Integration Process: Testing the Resilience of Candidate States and EU alike” at the Palace of Parliament.

The audience included public representatives, representatives of NGOs, Officials from the Romanian Foreign Ministry and academics.
