Bloomsday in Singapore

12 September 2022

The Embassy of Ireland in Singapore will host a screening of the 1967 film adaptation of ‘Ulysses’ directed by Joseph Strick. The screening will be followed by a short panel discussion.

The Academy Award, BAFTA and Golden Globe nominated adaptation created controversy with censors across the globe upon its release, but its black-and-white photography of authentic Dublin locations and a cast of talented Irish and international actors brings Joyce’s famously detailed novel to life.

Panellists include, Kenneth Tan (Chairperson, Singapore Film Society); Professor Adam Knee (Dean, Faculty of Fine Arts, Media & Creative Industries, LASALLE College of the Arts); and Professor Richard Barlow (Associate Professor of English, Nanyang Technological University).
