Bloomsday in the Republic of Korea

On 16 June, Bloomsday, the Embassy will host at the Residence a reception for c. 50 guests including the Presidents and leading academics of the James Joyce Society of Korea and the Yeats Society of Korea, as well as leading members of the Irish community.
The reception will include readings from Ulysses by two Irish Korea-based academics, Professor Peter McAuley and Professor Patrice Reidy, and by the President and Vice-President of the James Joyce Society.
The reception will also include the presentation by the Ambassador of a plaque of appreciation to Professor Kim Chong-Keon who translated Ulysses into Korean in the 1968.
