Book giveaway

The Consulate has organised a Joyce-related book giveaway which will see books being given away via social media and also donated to institutions.

To date we have donated books to the Johannes-Gutenberg-University in Mainz (see below) and plan to donate books to the Goethe University in Frankfurt shortly. We also plan to donate books to the public ‘open bookcase’ initiative in Frankfurt.

Ulysses class

The Consulate supported the delivery of a semester-long class on Ulysses delivered by a faculty member within the English/American studies area.

25 students signed up for the class, with copies of Ulysses being provided by the Consulate. Vice Consul Niall Farrell visited the class on June 14th to screen the RTÉ Ulysses documentary and deliver a presentation on the evolution of the book’s reception and cultural impact over time.
